El govern de Catalunya vol preguntar oficialment l'opinió dels catalans sobre el futur polític d'aquest territori. En particular, es pretén saber l'opinió dels catalans sobre la pregunta: "Vol que Catalunya sigui un Estat d'Europa?"; és a dir: "Vol que Catalunya sigui, a la pràctica, independent del Regne d'Espanya?"
I jo em pregunto: els catalans tenim dret a opinar sobre aquesta qüestió? El govern de Catalunya pot preguntar?
Catalunya, actualment, forma part del Regne d'Espanya, que és un Estat democràtic. Atenent a la definició de democràcia que en fan la Wikipedia i el diccionari de la RAE, per exemple, queda clar que el Regne d'Espanya és favorable a la intervenció del poble en el govern. O sigui, tot el que representi intervenció del poble en el govern serà afavorit pel Regne d'Espanya. Per exemple, que el poble es pronuncïi oficialment sobre si una part del territori pot deixar de formar-ne part.
El govern de Catalunya, com a entitat democràtica que és, ja ha dit que vol afavorir que els catalans opinin sobre aquesta qüestió, organitzant una consulta oficial; el problema és que, fins ara, el govern del Regne d'Espanya encara no ha mostrat com afavorirà aquest proces d'intervenció del poble en el govern.
Està clar que el Regne d'Espanya és un Estat democràtic. Potser cal que la consulta s'extengui a tot Espanya, i no només a Catalunya, ja que la presa de decisions del govern del Regne d'Espanya respon a la voluntat col·lectiva dels espanyols, però la voluntat dels governs democràtics d'afavorir que el poble intervingui és inequívoca en democràcia.
I, l'endemà de la pregunta oficial, un cop coneguts els resultats, estarem tots en la millor disposició per decidir el present i el futur del Regne d'Espanya i de les nacions que en formen part (de moment).

Catalonia is nowadays a part of the Kingdom of Spain, a democratic country. Looking at the definition of democracy in Wikipedia and the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, for example, it is clear that the Kingdom of Spain is favorable to the participation of the people in government affairs. Therefore, everything that means a way of helping people to participate in government affairs, will be supported by the Kingdom of Spain. For example, people officially answering a question about the secession of a part of Spain.
The government of Catalonia, since it is a democratic entity, has already said it wants to ensure that the Catalans will give their opinion about this issue, organizing an official inquiry; the problem is that, until now, the government of the Kingdom of Spain has not yet shown how to promote this process of participation of the people in government.
It is clear that the Kingdom of Spain is a democratic country. Perhaps it is necessary to extend the inquiry to the whole Spain, and not just in Catalonia, since the government actions have to reflect the collective will of the citizens of Spain, but the willingness of democratic governments to encourage the participation of people is out of doubt.
And the day after the official inquiry is answered, once the results are known, we will be ready to take the best decisions about the present and the future of the Kingdom of Spain and the nations that are part of it (up to now).
